chapter 1:
THE ALMIGHTY $$$

BORED 😴 🥱? SKIP TO THE END

international trade is critical for the proper functioning of countries and the dollar is the lifeblood of global commerce.

the dollar is the medium for invoicing goods, making payments and settling debts. since every country needs the dollar to trade, the u.s. has an exorbitant privilege.

theoretically the u.s. can afford anything it wants no matter the cost. u.s. defense spending is a good example. but shit, it ain’t trickin’ if you got it, right? 🤷🏾‍♂️

butt (get it? 🍑) if you are part of the horde, the billions who are not born in the u.s.a., then international trade is perilous.

trade is rarely an exchange between equals because the u.s. holds the trump card. the dollar allows the u.s. to define what IS (and isn’t) VALUABLE.
