Since… is an homage to ogogoro, a traditional west african spirit. ogogoro is produced by micro distillers dotting the niger-delta creek system, where the sap producing palm trees are located.

gogoro was banned by the british colonial authorities because it threatened their imports. later called illicit gin, ogogoro is indicative of how african, black and indigenous culture, has been stigmatized and delegitimized.

Since… is an attempt to reclaim ownership of our ancestral spirit.
this reclamation is predicated on syncretism: the ability to imbue our traditions with foreign influences to create something new but familiar.
it is our most valiant and tragic characteristic. it is why our traditions travel wide and survive long but also fall victim to corruption.

Since… is syncretic, steeped in flavors from fine ingredients sourced primarily from the continent. and some from abroad. we blended a strange, dark mix of spices and condiments to create an inimitable spirit that’s spicy, bold, and assertive with lingering floral and citrus notes.
leading with the slight dark chocolate funk of iru, then followed by cinnamon sweetness and finished warmly with tingling grains of paradise, our spirit is confident enough to be sipped alone and not too shy to mix. it’s a delicious ambivert.
